Carol (Kitch) Peterson

Carol Sue Kitch Peterson, 56, Indianapolis, died December 21, 2009 at home with her family and pets. She was born on February 13, 1953 in Mt. Pleasant, IA, the daughter of Earl and Ruby Kitch. Carol married her high school sweetheart, Merrill A. Peterson on December 23, 1971. Accomplished in many things, she loved to garden, was an excellent seamstress, and refinished antiques, which were incorporated into the home that was her ongoing project. Carol took great pride in being a devoted and involved mother and wife for 38 years. She was a volunteer with the Sharon L. Bassett Foundation for breast cancer. She made friends wherever she and Merrill lived, and will be missed by people all across the country, particularly friends in Indianapolis and from the 15 years they lived in Tampa, FL. Carol is survived by her husband Merrill, their children Megan M. Carpenter (Seth), Erin S. Peterson, and Aric W. Peterson (Amanda). She is also survived by her mother Ruby A. Kitch, siblings Linda Oliver, Duane Kitch, Ralph Kitch (Valerie), and Mary Tinsman, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Earl W. Kitch, infant brother Paul E. Kitch, and brothers in law Ted Oliver and Willliam Tinsman. Her beloved grand-dog Tetley also preceded her in death. Friends may call from 3 to 7pm Sunday, December 27th at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. Carol's funeral will be held Monday, December 28 at 11am at the Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make donations to the Sharon L. Bassett Foundation, 42 Virginia Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46204.
