Carol Jane Mickey

Carol J. Mickey, 85, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Arbor Court.Visitation will begin Thursday, June 22, 2017, at 9:00 a.m., with the family present from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral service time at 10:30 a.m. at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at the Swedesburg Cemetery in Swedesburg, IA. Gifts of love and friendship may be given to the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church. On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com. Born July 20, 1931, Carol Jane was the daughter of Rex and Lena Ingmanson Canby. She began her education at County School 9, then graduated from Mt. Union High School in 1949. She attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, IA. On September 23, 1951, at the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, she married Ralph E. Bob Mickey who preceded her in death in December 1997.Carol was a secretary for Mt. Pleasant Utilities and later a bookkeeper in Dr. Cole's Dental Office in Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church.She enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of family.Surviving Carol, are two sons, Joel (Megan) Mickey of Georgetown, TX, and Steven Mickey of Austin, TX; one granddaughter, Wilhelmina "Mina" Mickey of Georgetown, TX; and many nieces and nephews.Along with her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by a son, David; two sisters, June Conrad and Charlotte, in infancy; and one brother, Allen Canby.
