SIGOURNEY-Carmen Glenn Hoffman, age 90, of Sigourney, went to be with her Lord Friday, March 25, 2005 at the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney. Carmen was born January 31, 1915, in Milford, Nebraska, to Archie and Maude (Morehead) Gemmell. On November 26, 1940, she married Rolland Hoffman in Lincoln, Nebraska. The couple moved to a farm in the Sigourney area shortly thereafter. Carmen worked as a waitress at Gilbert's Café, was a clerk at Dick's Corner and did bookkeeping at First Trust and Savings Bank, currently known as Central Valley Bank. She was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church. Carmen was very blessed. She loved reading her scripture and faithfully prayed for her family and friends. Survivors include her children: Ron and wife Phyllis and Tim and wife Teresa, both of Sigourney; four grandchildren: Chris, Clint, Jed and Ryan and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Rolland in 1997; her oldest son: Larry Joe in 1956; one brother and one sister. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney. No memorial service is planned at this time. Consistent with her desire to help others, Carmen had arranged to donate her body to the School of Medicine at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Memorial contributions may be made to Lancaster Christian Church or to Hospice. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
