Parnell-Carl William Rodgers was born March 13, 1924 near Wellman, Iowa, the son of Emerson Ross and Clara Anna (Guengerich) Rodgers. He attended Hickory Grove School. Carl was united in marriage to Gladys Arlene Stutzman on March 12, 1948 in Wellman. Carl has lived in the Wellman and Parnell communities all his life. He was a life long farmer and operated a livestock artificial breeding business. Carl enjoyed talking to anyone he met, especially when he could brag about his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed attending tractor and cattle shows. Carl attended Parkview Evangelical Free Church in Iowa City being active in the Adult Senior Group and the Bible Study Group. Carl died Friday, January 12, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after complications of congestive heart failure at the age of 82 years. Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m .Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the Parkview Evangelical Free Church in Iowa City. Pastor Steve Rachke will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 16, 2007 from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation service in Williamsburg. Carl is survived by his wife Gladys of 58 years; ten children: Brooke Rodgers of Elkins, West Virginia, Larry Rodgers of Milton, West Virginia, Sara Potter of Waco, Texas, Scott Rodgers of Buckhannon, West Virginia, Jolene Eicken of Covington, Georgia, Rick Rodgers of South Amana, Jeffry Rodgers of Keosauqua, Gina Maas of Williamsburg, Elizabeth Rodgers and Melissa Mungai both of Portland, Oregon; 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and a sister Carolyn Yoder of Wellman. He was preceded in death by his parents.
