Bruce A. Eltrich, 67, of Salem, IA, died Wednesday, June 07, 2017, at his home.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Harmony Bible Church, Danville, IA, with Pastor Chris Carr officiating. Military Rites will be accorded by the Henry County Honor Guard. Family will greet friends following the service. Gifts of love and friendship may be given to the VA Hospital, Iowa City, IA, to be used for the comfort and welfare of veterans. Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com. Born October 29, 1949, in Winona, MN, Bruce Allyn was the son of Herbert Thomas and Sherrie Lou (Womhoff) Eltrich. He graduated from high school in Fresno, CA, and received his A.A.S. Degree in Criminology from Colorado Mountain College in 1986. He went on to receive a degree in civil law as a paralegal. Bruce later attended Jubilee School of Ministry for biblical studies and Southeastern Community College receiving certification as a pharmacy tech.On August 23, 1987, Bruce married the love of his life, Jeannine Woolley Detrick in Rifle, CO. Jeannine cared for him throughout his lengthy illness and was thankful to fulfill his wish to die at home while praising God with his wife at his side.Bruce served in the United States Army in Germany from 1974-1978. He was a U.S. border patrol agent in California, and later a Sergeant for Garfield County Sheriff's Department in Glenwood Springs, CO. His favorite job was being the owner of Higher Grounds Coffee House in Mt. Pleasant, IA. He loved great food, good coffee, and meeting new people. His priority in life was his relationship with Jesus Christ, followed by love for his family. Bruce was a member of Harmony Bible Church. He served on the Salem City Council, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, enjoyed cooking, and was an avid reader, loving to learn as much as he could.Along with his wife, Bruce is survived by his daughter, Alicia (Dustin) Stanley of Elkins, AR; a son, Bruce Eltrich Jr. of Denver, CO; and three step-children, Ted (Robin) Detrick, of New London, IA, Kelly (Jeffrey) Wallace of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Christina (Jeffrey) Feehan of Salem, IA; four siblings, Vicki (Larry) Spiers of Yuma, AZ, Terry (Michael) Ragus of Fulton, IL, Brian Eltrich of Fresno, CA, and Melody Eltrich of Merced, CA; seven perfect grandsons, and one exceptionally perfect granddaughter.Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jeff Eltrich and Doug Eltrich.
