Brian Thomas Ball

Kalona-Brian Thomas Ball was born May 30th, 1958 in Iowa City, the son of William and Bonnie (Seydel) Ball. Brian grew up in the Johnson and Washington County areas. He graduated from Clear Creek High School in Tiffin. He attended Kirkwood Community College and graduated with an Ag degree. Brian worked on the family farm and was a custodian at the University of Iowa. Brian was united in marriage to Mary White on February 14, 1989, at Danforth Chapel in Iowa City. Brian enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, camping, going out to eat,  museums and watching John Wayne country western movies.  Brian passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at the Washington County Hospital at the age of 65 years. 

He is survived by his parents; four children, Zachary and Hannah Ball of Kalona, Jamie Ball of Nichols and Sarah Ball of Iowa City; grandchildren Catherine Ball and Mason Cooper; siblings, Brad Ball of Des Moines, Brenda (Jeff) Hall of Montezuma, Bruce (Mindy) Ball of Michigan, Bridgette (Mark) Sedlacek of Tiffin and Debbie (Josh) Stewart of Colfax; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary in April and his brother, Armond Douglas Ball.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 12:00 pm Friday, December 22, 2023 at Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Visitation will be 11:00 am until service time.
