Boyd Ellsworth Bonnett

Boyd Ellsworth Bonnett, age 77, of Brooklyn, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 19, 2020, at the Faith Christian Center, 803 S. 3 ^rd St., Montezuma, with Pastor Bill Wilkerson and Pastor Josh Gerard officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be contributed to the family or in Boyd’s name to the Faith Christian Center, in Montezuma. Kloster Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Boyd is survived by his wife Joan; six children, Valerie Bonnett, of Pella, David Bonnett, of Woburn, MA, Danielle (Jake) Kraehling, of Gilbert, Rachel (Jim) Stout, of New Sharon, Pastor Josh (Tracey) Gerard, of Brooklyn, and Charity (Pastor Bill) Wilkerson, of Montezuma; four siblings Wes (Grace) Bonnett, of Bussey, Marlene (Jim) Wells, of Lovilia, Debbie Avon, of Des Moines and Rhonda Bonnett, of Lovilia; and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mary Bonnett, a sister Brenda and a brother Carl Jr.

Boyd was born December 2, 1943, in Oskaloosa, the son of Carl and Mary (Rhoads) Bonnett. He graduated from Twin Cedars High School in Bussey. Boyd was a follower of Christ. He was employed at Clow Valve, in Oskaloosa and Tenco, in Ottumwa. He later sold insurance for Farm Bureau and worked construction at various places. Boyd was a fun, loving man, and a hard worker. His faith, family and music were the biggest parts of his life. He preached and sang at the Mitchellville Prison, nursing homes and at various events with his wife Joan. Boyd was a huge Hawkeye fan and an avid golfer.
