Bonnie J. Thompson, age 66 of Brooklyn, passed away at her home, Saturday, December 22, 2018. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn from 5 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Steven Thompson of Brooklyn; her children, Greg (Angie) of Malcom, Shelly of Grinnell, Angie Thompson (Alex) of Maryland, and Carrie Thompson of Brooklyn; seven grandchildren, Eric Thompson (Raven) of Grinnell, Darren Thompson (McKenna) of Walford, Steven Thompson of Grinnell, Cierra Thompson of Malcom, Tabatha Brown of Brooklyn, Blaise Wiley of Grinnell and Brandon Hernandez of Maryland; and a great grandson Greyson Thompson of Grinnell. Also surviving are her sisters, JoAnn Danovski (Fred) of Cedar Rapids and Diane Rook-Johnson (Buford) of Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Louise Evans and Jean in infancy.
Bonnie June Plikuhn was born March 5, 1952 in Lady Smith, Wisconsin, the daughter of August O. Plikuhn and Edith Figland Plikuhn. She attended Grinnell High School and later received her GED. Bonnie and Steven R. Thompson were married on December 2, 1969 in California. Steve was in the military and Bonnie followed him where he was stationed, working various jobs on the bases. She also served as head teller at a credit union in Maryland and worked in the kitchen at Grinnell College. In her free time. Bonnie enjoyed gardening, camping and crocheting. She also enjoyed spending time on her computer.
Bonnie was loved by her family and many friends, and will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.
