SIGOURNEY-Bonnie Alberta Easter, age 84, died of cancer Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. Bonnie was born June 23, 1923, in Mystic, Iowa, to Charles E. and Mary A. (Lundy) Reeves. She graduated from Tracy Consolidated School in 1941 and St. Joseph School of Nursing in Ottumwa in 1944. On September 10, 1946 she married Samuel "Don" Easter in Tracy, Iowa. The couple spent their entire married life in Sigourney and built their current home in 1956. Bonnie worked for 13 years at the Keokuk County Superintendent's office. She later worked for Greenleys Corp. until retiring in 2002 at age 79, after more than 25 years of service. She was a member of the Sigourney United Methodist Church, where she was a longtime third grade teacher and actively served in the U.M.W. Bonnie was a former member of T.T.T. She was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting and gardening. Survivors include her daughter: Mary Easter of Ankeny; son: Donald Easter and wife Lorie of Ankeny; three grandchildren: Timothy Easter, Chad Easter and Natalie deRegnier and nephew: Charles E. Reeves of Knoxville and his family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and three brothers: Clarence, Henry and Merle. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at the Sigourney United Methodist Church with Rev. John Hembry officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney. A memorial fund has been established for the Sigourney United Methodist Church and Iowa Hospice and Pallative Care in Johnston, Iowa. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
