DELTA-Bob Miller, age 82, of Delta, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 6, 2006, in his sleep, at his daughter's home in Beloit, Wisconsin. Bob was born September 15, 1923, in Rose Hill, Iowa, to Forrest and Bernice (Morrow) Miller and received his education in Delta School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On June 16, 1945, he married Inez Hays in Topeka, Kansas. Upon Bob's discharge from the Army the couple moved to Delta, where Bob was a rural mail carrier for 37 years. He also farmed for many years. Bob was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church, American Legion, Delta Volunteer Fire Department and Delta Town Council for many years. He was also known for being a conservationist. Bob enjoyed fishing, reading, gardening, raising Angus cattle, coaching little league baseball and following his grandchildrens' activities. Survivors include his wife: Inez of Delta; one son: Mick Miller and wife Cheryl of Hiawatha; one daughter: Twyla Johnson and husband Roger of Beloit, Wisconsin; three grandchildren: Trisha Belinske and husband Kevin, Allison Miller and fiancee Joe Schwanebeck and Joel Miller and one great granddaughter: Nyah Belinske. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 10, 2006, at the Lancaster Christian Church in rural Sigourney with Revs. Jim Eschenbrenner and Dave Matteson officiating. Burial will be at Garrett Cemetery near Delta. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2006, at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney. A memorial fund has been established for the Lancaster Christian Church. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
