WHAT CHEER-Bob Kleinschmidt, age 59, of What Cheer, died Monday, April 12, 2010, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Bob was born June 25, 1950, in Hayesville, to Leland Dwight and Helen (Pence) Kleinschmidt. He attended Modock country school and graduated from Pekin High School in 1968. On March 17, 1971 Bob married Judy Skinner. They were later divorced. A lifelong resident of Keokuk County, Bob farmed, did custom baling, worked at Golden Furrow for several years, was a self-employed contractor and worked at the sale barns in Ollie and Sigourney. On August 5, 2007 he married Mari Parcel Ward in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Bob loved to work. He also enjoyed hunting and trapping, his dog Walt, playing cards, raising cattle and cooking, baking and canning in his later years. Survivors include his wife: Mari of What Cheer; step-son: Joshua Ward of Coralville; mother: Helen Kleinschmidt (Gerald Spicer) of Sigourney; two sisters: Barbara Kleinschmidt of Hedrick and Connie Winn of Ollie; one brother: Rick Kleinschmidt of Hedrick; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, with Rev. Bill Hornback officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in rural Martinsburg. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Bob Kleinschmidt memorial. Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney is caring for Bob and his family.
