Blanche K. Miller was born April 15, 1920 near Hesston, Kansas, the daughter of Rudolph and Catherine (King) Blosser. On February 2, 1941 she was united in marriage to Alton B. Miller in Hesston. They moved to Iowa after their marriage and made their home in the Kinross, Wellman and Kalona communities. Blanche was a member of the Salem Mennonite Church, where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and making quilts. Blanche died on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 94 years.
Blanche is survived by three children - Evan Miller of Wellman; Kathryn (Robert) Gerten of Burwell, Nebraska; Judith (Geoffrey) Parker of Mulmar, Ontario; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alton; a son Gary Miller; 2 grandsons E. Zachary Gerten and Eric Miller; 4 brothers Byron, Melvin, Vernon and Virgil Blosser; and 3 sisters Thelma, Wilma and an infant.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Sharon Bethel Church rural Kalona. Ministers in Charge Gerald Kreider, Wilford Beachy and John Weaver. Burial will be held in the Sharon Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, October 10, 2014 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona where the family will greet friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A memorial fund has been established for Christian Aid Ministry and Salem Church.
