Billy Eugene Carder, age 83, of North English, died on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the English Valley Care Center in North English. Family graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 30, 2012, in the Millersburg Cemetery, Millersburg. Iowa. Visitation will be from 3 PM to 6 PM on Sunday, April 29, 2012, at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the Millersburg United Methodist Church and Hospice Compassus in Cedar Rapids. Billy Eugene Carder was born on December 31, 1928, near Millersburg, Iowa, a son of Wilfred and Louise Christine Winegarden Carder. Billy lived, farmed and manufactured farm equipment around Millersburg most of his life. He graduated from Millersburg High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Millersburg United Methodist Church. Billy married Patricia Ann Brennan in 1950. They divorced after 25 years. He became a resident of the English Valley Care Center in January 2011. Billy is survived by five children: Linda Bock of North English, Iowa; Danny (Connie) Carder of Coralville, Iowa; Doug Carder of North English, Iowa; Scott (Jacki) Carder of Williamsburg, Iowa and James (Sandy) Carder of Gray, Maine; eight grandchildren: Brian Bock, Brittany Carder, Kelsey Carder, Jared (Beth) Carder, Cameron Carder, Sara Carder, Stefani (James) Schlesselman and Casey (Louise) Erwin; six great grandchildren: Isabella and Samantha Schlesselman; Serena, Casey, Tea and George Erwin. Billy was preceded in death by his parents. The family of Billy Carder would like to thank the staff and all the volunteers at the English Valley Care Center. He received excellent care and companionship there. We all appreciate your efforts. We would also like to send a special thank you to everyone involved with Hospice Compassus of Cedar Rapids. Your professionalism, caring and compassion for Billy and his family really did make his final journey more comfortable. Thanks to everyone.
