Bill Myers

William W. "Bill" Myers, 62, of rural New London, IA, passed away, Sunday, November 6, 2016, at his home with family and loved ones by his side.Visitation will begin after 12 noon on Thursday November 10, 2016, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, November 11, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, of Mt. Pleasant, with The Reverend Wayne Kamm officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Gifts of love and friendship may be given to Mt Pleasant High School FFA Chapter or St Jude Children's Hospital. On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com. Born on May 31, 1954, in Mt Pleasant, IA, William Wesley was the son of Elvin E. and Anna Miller Myers. He attended Mt. Pleasant High School, graduating in 1972. On June 1, 1974, he married Deborah Ann Krier who passed away on December 21, 1998. On September 5, 2009, Bill married Cynthia Marie Chaney at the Myer's home in New London. Bill started his career early at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, but shortly after he began his construction career with Vic Calhoun and "Big" John Liechty. He would eventually start his own construction company in the early 1980s. Even as much as Bill loved construction his true love was the farm. Harvest season and calving season was what he lived for. He liked to fish, hunt, camp, clean, and care for his guns. Family was very important to Bill, with his greatest joy being Sunday dinner at Grandma's house, with lots of family around the table. Along with his wife, Cindy, Bill is survived by his mother, Anna Myers; four children, Chad (Amber) Myers of Dover, MN, Tim (Brandy) Myers of New London, IA, Stephanie (Chris) Brown of Burlington, IA and Crystal Mathias of Mt Pleasant, IA; and nine grandchildren, Presley, Landry, Libby, Rainsley, Cale, Garrett, Christian, Halia, and Soul. Also surviving are three siblings, Dick (Cheryl) Myers of Salem, IA, Howard Myers of New London, IA, and Sheryl (Mike) Dorn of Mt Pleasant, IA.
