Bill Hobbs was born September 18, 1966 in Washington, Iowa the son of Dean and Shirley (Niffenegger) Hobbs. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1985, and attended Lincoln Tech in Des Moines. On September 7, 1990 he was united in marriage to Kim Redlinger at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Wellman. Bill worked as a hired man for Marvin Miller. He delivered Miller sweet corn to many. He was a member of the West Chester Methodist Church. He enjoyed working on cars, demo derby cars, and garden tractors. He was an avid NASCAR fan. Bill died suddenly on Monday at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 44 years. Bill is survived by his wife Kim of Wellman; a daughter Kayla and a son Colton of Wellman; his parents Dean and Shirley Hobbs of West Chester; a sister - Lori Hanshaw (Mike) of Springville; mother-in-law Kay Langenberg (Pat) of Iowa City; father-in-law Rich Redlinger (Mary) of Wellman; brother-in-law Kyle Redlinger of Wellman; a nephew Derek Hanshaw; and a niece Kylie Hanshaw. He was preceded in death by his grandparents - Earl and Nora Hobbs and Ivan and Bea Niffenegger. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 14, 2011, at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. Rev. Rich Pippert will officiate. Burial will be in the West Chester Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for Bill's children's education.
