Beverly J. Jennings, 76, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Park Place Long Term Care Unit. According to her wishes, Mrs. Jennings has been cremated. Friends may drop cards at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel during normal business hours this week or send them in care of the Memorial Chapel at P.O. Box 656, Mt. Pleasant, IA, 52641. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials have been established to Park Place. The daughter of Arnold F. and Gladys R. Zimmerman Timmerman, Beverly Jean was born on June 21, 1931, in Ft. Madison, IA. As a youngster, Bev moved with her family to Mt. Pleasant. She was a 1950 graduate of Mt. Pleasant Community High School and continued her education at the Burlington Hospital School of Nursing. On October 4, 1953, Bev married Arthur LeRoy Jennings in Mt. Pleasant, IA. He survives. A registered nurse, Bev worked for the State of Iowa, at the Mental Health Institute in Mt. Pleasant, for 34 years before retiring in 1993. Bev spent her entire life caring for people and animals from a very young age. She loved horseback riding and enjoyed gardening. As a child, Bev was a Girl Scout. She was a drum majorette and participated in Rainbow Girls. Bev was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Iowa State Nursing Association, American Quarter Horse Association, and a former member of Chapter A of the National T.T.T. Society. She was a member of the Henry County Animal Rescue League. Along with her husband, LeRoy, Mrs. Jennings is survived by a grandson, Justin Jennings of O'Fallon, MO and a half-sister, Leone Tim Hollingsworth of New London. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jennings was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Tim Jennings; a granddaughter, Lindsey Jennings; and a half-sister Beulah Shaw.
