Beverley Mathews

Beverley A. Mathews, 63, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Arbor Court. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel with Pastor Daryl Jessup officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Hospice of Central Iowa. Born October 2, 1945, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Beverley Ann was the daughter of Webb Howard and Laura Ann (Lamb) Russell. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1963, and enrolled at A.I.B. in Des Moines. She married Dave Mathews in April of 1974. The couple later divorced. After her college graduation, Beverley began to work for Emerson Electric in Mt. Pleasant. She then began a 30 year career at Metromail in the production department. She also worked for Motorola and Celestica until the plant closed and moved from Mt. Pleasant. Beverley loved gardening, growing flowers, crocheting, sewing, cooking and going to auctions. She was affiliated with the Oakland Mill Community Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Rainbow Girls. Beverley is survived by a daughter, Terri Mathews; and a granddaughter Amanda. She is also survived by three brothers, Roger (Fern) Russell, Walter Russell and James E. (Jan) Russell. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert Russell and Wallace (Agnes) Russell, and a sister in infancy.
