North English Betty May Denison was born on December 18, 1924, in Des Moines, IA, a daughter of Kenneth Dale and May Brubaker Lane. Betty lived in the Des Moines area before moving to Mason City, North Dakota, Bussey, and What Cheer. She graduated from Barnes City High School. On February 27, 1951, she married Wilford Eugene Denison in What Cheer, They moved to North English in 1955. Betty was a member of the North English Christian Church, where she was a deacon, taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the CWF. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Red Hat Club. Betty worked 20 years as a postal clerk in North English for the United States Postal Service. Betty died on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, at the age of 86 years. Betty is survived by daughters Ruth Ann (Jerry) Dill of Cedar Rapids; Pamela Denison of Cedar Rapids; Crystal (Stan) Wiess of Ladora; and son Gary Denison of Cedar Rapids; 5 grandchildren: David & Darren Dill; Austin, Travis & Ashley Clubb; 6 great grandchildren: Cody, Alecia & Riley Dill, and Isaac, Celie & Brooklyn Clubb. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in January 2002 and a brother Kenneth Lane. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 PM at the North English Christian Church with Pastor Kirk Statler officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 PM at the church. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the North English Christian Church or Mercy Hospice, Hiawatha. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries.
