Betty Louise Frederick was born on July 6, 1928, in Blue Rapids, Kansas, the daughter of Amos and Neva (Lacy) Hearn. She was united in marriage to Edwin E. Frederick on January 8, 1950, in Tipton, Iowa. They lived in Mechanicsville, Kinross and North English before moving to the farm near South English, where they have resided for the past 48 years. She was a member of the Busy Bees Community Club. She enjoyed gardening, doing bead work, watching the humming birds, mushroom hunting and fishing. Betty passed away on Monday, May 12, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, after a brief illness, at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 6 days. She is survived by her husband Edwin of rural South English; a daughter Brenda and husband Johnny Peppers of Blue Springs, MO; 6 sons: Fritz and wife Del Frederick of North English, Steve Frederick of South English, Craig and wife Becky Frederick of Keota, Marlin and wife Jan Frederick of Webster, Raymond Frederick of Brighton and Brent Frederick and fiancé LeAnn of Williamsburg; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 4 sisters: Lolita Blaha of Marengo, Lois Semoton of West Branch, Jeannie Brundege of Pelzer,SC and Carol Ann Morehead of Blue Spring, NE; a brother James Hearn of Glenwood AR. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law Amy Frederick; 2 sisters Marie Hearn and Hazel Wagner; and 3 brothers: Maynard Hearn, William Hearn and Finley Hearn. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English, with the Rev. Jim Bringman officiating. Burial will be in the South English Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-7 PM at the Powell Funeral Home. A general memorial fund has been established.
