Betty L Maxwell

Betty Lou Maxwell was born October 22, 1923 in Kinross, Iowa the daughter of Jesse and Eliza (Wagamon) Seitsinger. Betty graduated from Kinross High School in 1940. On May 5, 1944 Betty was united in marriage to John L. Maxwell in Wichita, KS. They moved to the Wellman area in 1946 and in 1980 moved to Iowa City. Betty and John spent the winters in Clearwater, Florida where they formed many enduring friendships. Betty died on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa at the age of 91 years. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Betty is survived by her three children; Jeff (Jennifer) Maxwell of Cedar Rapids, Larry Maxwell (Gary Denison) of Rancho Mirage, CA. and Shelia (Max) Newberry of Fresno, CA. four grandchildren; Grant Hunter, Colbi, Abby, and Parker Maxwell, and a sister Helen Romberg of Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John on May 19, 2014, five brothers; Omer, Byrl, Paul, Marlowe, and Harold.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. There will be a light lunch following the service. Burial will be in the Brethren Cemetery in rural South English. A memorial fund has been established for the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
