Betty Jo Donahue

North English - Betty Jo Donahue, was born October 20, 1932 in North English, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph & Sally (Corel) Gilchrist. She was valedictorian of her 1950 graduating class from North English High School. On May 11, 1951, Betty was united in marriage to Kenneth James Donahue at the North English Christian Church, together they were life long residents of the North English Community. She worked as a secretary at Amana Refrigeration for 25 years. Betty was a member of the North English Christian Church. She enjoyed painting, reading and spending time with her grandchildren & great grandchildren. Betty died on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics, at the age of 82 years.

Betty is survived by her husband Kenneth of North English; a son Rev. Dr. Michael (Kari) Donahue of Sellersburg, IN; 7 grandchildren: Andrea (Cliff) Brazzille, Kassandra (Dave) Donahue-Mowbray, Tyler (Megan) Donahue, Mitchell (friend Marina) Donahue, Jamie (Adam) Justesen, Lindee Donahue and Brittni Donahue; 4 great grandchildren: Kaydence, Kendra, Randy & Brody; a sister Reva Wyant of North English; and 4 nieces. She was preceded by her parents; a son Randy Lynn Donahue and a brother William Gilchrist.

Celebration of life service will be held 10:00 AM on Monday, October 19, 2015 at the North English Christian Church. Pastor Luke Caster & Rev. Dr. Michael Donahue will officiate. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Powell Funeral Home, North English. A general memorial fund has been established.
