Marengo-Betty J. Shaull was born July 14, 1930 in Victor, the daughter of John and Garnet Rowe Scott. She lived in Missouri when she was young, then moved to Ladora, Iowa, where she graduated from Ladora High School in 1948. Betty was united in marriage to Edwin Dale (Jake) Shaull on July 14, 1948 in Ladora. Together they raised eight children. Betty has lived in the Iowa County area (Williamsburg & Marengo) most all of her life. Betty died Thursday, November 24, 2005 at Windmill Manor in Coralville after a brief illness at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 10 days. She is survived by seven children: Sue Lathrop of Stanwood, Donna (Dan) McDonald of South Amana, Debbie Kruse of Marengo, Carol (Dale) Krakow of Marengo, Kathy Larson and friend Dan McCallister of Williamsburg, Bev Lathum and friend Jim Kepler of Mechanicsville and Rodney Shaull of Marion; 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; a sister Lucy McNeal of Cedar Rapids; three brothers: John Scott Jr. of Montana, Willy Dean Scott of Cedar Rapids and Bruce Ray of Marion. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jake, a daughter: Connie; a grandson: Scott Williams; two brothers: Bobbie and Gene Scott. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 am Monday, November 28, 2005 at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Pastor James Parks will officiate. Private family burial will be at the Ohio Cemetery near Ladora. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 5:00 pm at the funeral home. A general memorial has been established.
