SIGOURNEY-Betty J. Heisdorffer, age 89, of Sigourney, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the Sigourney Care Center. Betty was born December 15, 1923, near Sigourney, to Chris and Mary (Hens) Brothersen and graduated from Sigourney High School. On July 7, 1961, she married Richard R. Heisdorffer in Sigourney. The couple moved to Osceola, Iowa in 1968 and five years later returned to Sigourney. A homemaker, Betty was a member of the Sigourney United Methodist Church and enjoyed bowling and traveling. Survivors include a sister: Twyla Stroud of Longmont, Colorado; sister-in-law: Pauline Street of Sigourney and one nephew: Larry Stroud of Campbell, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Richard in 1978, two sisters: Margaret Brothersen and Lottie Smeaton and nephew: Paul Smeaton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, with Rev. Jim Stout officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Keokuk County Relay for Life or Keokuk County Hospice.
