Betty Hall, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Monday, September 19, 2011, at Arbor Court. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 27th, at 1:00 p.m. at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bob Spilger officiating. Inurnment will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Iowa Hospice and the Fellowship Cup. Born October 24, 1922, in Mt. Pleasant, Betty Jean was the daughter of Merton and Ruth (Burrows) Wright. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and then attended Iowa Wesleyan College for two years. On April 21, 1943 she married Richard Hall in Mt. Pleasant. Betty began working at the Galer Law Office in Mt. Pleasant as a legal secretary. Later, she moved with her husband to Red Oak, IA where she worked as a secretary to the bank president at Houghton State Bank for many years. Retiring in 1981, the couple then moved to Osage Beach, MO where they resided until 2005. After the death of her husband, Betty returned to Mt. Pleasant where she has since resided. A member of the Methodist Church in Osage Beach, Betty also belonged to the Pi Beta Phi Sorority and P.E.O. Her interests included golf, knitting and extensive traveling. She was a great cook and loved to entertain in her home. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Russell of Arlington, TX and Dorothy (Dean) Lamm of Mt. Pleasant, IA; two brothers, Brad (Nancy) Wright of Albert Lea, MN and John (Kim) Wright of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her husband, parents, and two brothers, Richard and Bill Wright.
