KEOTA-Betty A. Stoutner, age 96, of Keota, died Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at the Keota Health Care Center.
Betty was born April 20, 1921, in Washington, Iowa, to William, Jr. and Armorelle (McCreedy) Miller. She moved to the Keota community with her family at age 10 and graduated from Keota High School. On July 2, 1940, Betty married Glenn H. Stoutner at the Methodist Parsonage in Keota. After marriage Betty helped on the farm while caring for their children. She worked as a CNA at Maplewood Manor for many years, was a 4-H leader and a member of the Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school for 13 years. Betty enjoyed working in her garden, spending time with her family and friends and her neighborhood and card clubs.
Survivors include four children: Glenda (Gene) Hammen of Wellman, Charlotte (Doug) Flander of Clive, Shirley Karr of Washington and Kenny Stoutner of Keota; 14 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and sister: Mary Lou Miller of Keota. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Glenn in 1994; sister: Phyllis Lyle and a great granddaughter.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the United Church of Faith in Keota, with Rev. Mike Druhl officiating. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, September 22, 2017, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota.
