HARPER-Bernadette C. Redlinger, age 79, of Harper, died Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney. Bernadette was born March 29, 1934, in rural Harper, to Michael and Margaret (Sondag) Redlinger and graduated from St. Elizabeth's High School in 1952. A lifelong resident of the Harper community, Bernadette devoted her life to caring for her parents and helping on the farm. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Parish, the Altar and Rosary Society and D.C.W. She enjoyed gardening, genealogy and family history, making grape jelly and catsup and praying the rosary daily. Survivors include her sister: Winifred Wehr of Sigourney; two brothers: Francis A. Redlinger of Marengo and LaVern M. Redlinger of Pleasant Plain; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Edwin Redlinger and three sisters: Miriam McArtor, Margaret Striegel and Dorothy Conrad. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2014, at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with Revs. Charles Fladung and Robert Harness officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Harper. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be an Altar and Rosary Society rosary at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred.
