Becky Johnson

Rebecca "Becky" Johnson, 62, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away at 2:26 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Park Place Elder Living. Visitation will begin after 12 noon until 6 p.m., on Sunday, August 28, 2016, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m that afternoon. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 on Monday, August 29, 2016, at Olson Powell Memorial Chapel, with Chaplain Jim Luder officiating. According to her wishes, Becky has been cremated. Born on August 8, 1954, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Rebecca Ann was the daughter of Kenneth and Vivian D. Smith Myers, Sr. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant Community High School in 1972. On November 27, 1998, she married Gary Keith Johnson at the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church. Following high school, Becky worked in the office of H. Eugene Smith doing record and bookkeeping. She then went on to work at various jobs around the Mount Pleasant area before working at Motorola/Celestica as a production worker, testing radios and working in quality control. Very family oriented, Becky cherished holidays, attended many of her nieces and nephews' activities, and took numerous weekend trips with her sisters. She was known to her family as a great cookie baker. Becky enjoyed fishing and camping at Lake Geode and Lake Darling, along with visiting museums throughout Iowa. Along with her loving husband, Gary, of seventeen years, Becky is survived by her mother, Vivian Myers of Mt. Pleasant, IA; two step-sons, Daniel (Sara) Johnson of Swisher, IA, and Mark (Kerri) Johnson of Waterloo, IA; two step-grandchildren , Mack and Ava Johnson of Swisher, IA; two brothers, Kenneth Myers, Jr., of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and John (Tina) Myers of Swedesburg; two sisters, Pam (Ron) Carruthers of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Diana (Ron) Venghaus of Mt. Union, IA; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and great-nieces. Becky was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Myers, Sr., and by her paternal grandmother, Velda Myers McClery.
