Audrey E. Peterson, 95, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away Friday, February 8, 2019, at Sunrise Terrace Care Center.
Visitation, with the family present, will be held for one hour, starting at 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church. A funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m., at the church, with Reverend Mark Youngquist, officiating. Burial will be in Swedesburg Cemetery. Gifts of love and friendship may be given to Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Swedish Heritage Museum. Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel is assisting the family. Born July 27, 1923, east of Swedesburg, IA, Audrey Elaine was the daughter of Nels G. and Hannah Olivia (Ingmanson) Peterson. She was a 1941 graduate of Olds High School. On August 3, 1943, Audrey married Wendell F. Peterson in Salt Lake City, UT. He preceded her in death on November 9, 2012.
A homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother, family was Audreys highest priority. For a few years, she was the bookkeeper for the family business, Peterson Implement. Audrey was a member of Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, the ELCA Womens Circle, and helped with the annual Smorgasbord for many years.
Proud of her Swedish heritage, Audrey researched her family genealogy. She was a wonderful cook and baker, along with enjoying gardening and canning. Audrey loved the outdoors, picnics, reading, and music. She played the organ, worked crossword puzzles and did many types of needlework. Audrey liked to travel and visited much of the continental United States and Canada.
Audrey is survived by a son Dan Peterson of Mt. Pleasant, IA; three daughters, Cindy (Dale) Tarrence of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Margie (Matthew) Peek of Wichita, KS, and Nancy (Jeff) Wood of Ft. Worth, TX; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Clark of Mt. Pleasant, IA.
Along with her husband and parents, Audrey was preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters, and their spouses.
