OSKALOOSA - Audrey M. Smith, age 82, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, December 24, 2009, at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa. She was born September 16, 1927 near Radcliffe, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Mary (Anderson) Hall and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1945. On May 5, 1947 she was united in marraige to Clarence Smith in Ellsworth. They lived in Keota 22 years, Harlan 30 years, and Oskaloosa the last 12 years. She and Clarence owned Smith Variety in Keota for 11 years. Audrey also was a store manager for Gordon Paulk Fabric Store in Harlan for 18 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of St. Paul's Congregational United Church of Christ in Oskaloosa and a former member of the Keota Federated Church. Audrey loved to quilt and was active in her church and P.E.O. Chapter. Survivors include her husband Clarence of Oskaloosa; a daughter Linda Sieren (David) of Keota; 3 grandchildren - Ryan Sieren (Roberta) of Keota; Shari Scigliano (Mark) of Des Moines; Randy Sieren (Chantelle) of Robins; 9 great grandchildren; and two brothers - Harold Hall of Ames and David Hall of Tucson, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers - Robert, Donald and Clarence, Jr. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, with Rev. Dennis Hopes officiating. Burial will be at Brethren Cemetery near South English. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 27, 2009, at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is caring for Audrey and her family.
