Williamsburg- Audrey Alberta Petz was born April 22, 1924, in Holyrood, KS, the daughter of Raymond and Hulda (Perdue) Smith. On July 1, 1939, she was united in marriage to Edward John Petz in Bowling Green, Missouri. They lived in Kansas, Missouri and moved to Williamsburg in 1942. She was a seamstress for many years. Audrey was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg, and a former member of St. Mary's Altar & Rosary Society. She cleaned the church for many years and made the baptismal bibs for baptisms. Audrey died on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, at the age of 87 years. She is survived by her children: Duane (Barb) Petz of Iowa City, Lyle (Brenda) Petz of St. Augustine, FL, Annette (Nick) Smith of Frisco, TX, Connie (Bob) Richards of Iowa City, Denny Petz of Davenport, Rick Petz, of Williamsburg, Joe Petz of Williamsburg, Angie (Craig) Cochran of West Branch and Dave Petz of Williamsburg; 32 grandchildren & great grandchildren and a sister Viola Dukes of Springfield, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, a son James, 1 grandchild , 2 great grandchildren and a brother. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30AM on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg. Fr. Joseph Roost will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 PM on Friday at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg with a rosary at 3:00 PM. A general memorial fund has been established.
