Williamsburg~ Arnold E. Webert, was born on August 6, 1918, near Fredricksburg, Iowa, the son of Otto and Frieda (Tschopp) Webert. He was baptized on September 22, 1918 and confirmed on April 9, 1933. He attended rural school near Dysart. In 1941, he was united in marriage to Norma Schmidt at Immanuel Lutheran Church, near Williamsburg. He was a life long farmer. He lived on a farm near Luzerne, Iowa until 1944 when they moved to a farm in Iowa County, south of Marengo, they later moved to Williamsburg in 1976 He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, repairing things and most of all he enjoyed his family. Arnold died on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at his home in Williamsburg, after an extended illness, at the age of 90 years, 1 month and 10 days. He is survived by his wife Norma of Williamsburg; a daughter Luanne and husband Eliseo Alcaraz of Cedar Hill, Texas; a son Wayne and wife Linda Webert of Williamsburg, Iowa; a daughter-in-law Carol and husband Jon Eggert of Oxford; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a sister Gertrude Barkwill of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Carolyn Middleton in 1984; a son Leland in 1991; 2 brothers Harold Webert in WWII and Otto Webert Jr in 2005.; and a great grandson Adam Fitzsimmons in 2008. Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 PM on Friday, September 19, 2008, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Pastor Carl Cloeter will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Williamsburg. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
