Armando A. Dehogues was born January 15, 1925 in Havana, Cuba the son of Julio and Angela (Puig) Dehogues. He graduated from High School and from College in Cuba. On December 27, 1952 he was united in marriage to Ana Pedraz in Havana. While in Cuba he worked as a lawyer and for the CIA. They moved to Miami, Florida in October of 1962, then to Kalona in February of 2002. He enjoyed the Kalona community and the changing of the seasons. He had a thirst for knowledge and was always reading. Armando died suddenly on Monday, October 19, 2009 at his home in Kalona at the age of 84 years. Armando is survived by two sons - Armando J. Dehogues of Washington; Al Dehogues and wife Lois of Kalona; and three grandchildren - Alex, Will and Jacey. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ana on October 29, 2007; and two sisters - Martha and Alicia. Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona followed by a Funeral Service at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the Wellman Mennonite Cemetery in Wellman. A memorial fund has been established for Paws and More Animal Shelter in Washington.
