Arlene Jane Green, age 87, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024, in Amana, Iowa. A private graveside service for the family will be held with Elder Peter Hoehnle officiating. Burial will be in the West Amana Cemetery, West Amana. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2024, at the Middle Amana Church, Middle Amana. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is caring for Arlene and her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Hollrah and son, David Green; granddaughters, Rebecca Hollrah and Anneli (Tim) Ginader; great-grandchildren, Lucy and Henry; brother, Melvin (Harriet) Graesser; two nieces; a nephew; and several cousins.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, and several aunts and uncles.
Arlene Jane Green was born February 29, 1936, in West Amana, Iowa, to Richard and Emilie (Miller) Graesser of West Amana. She graduated from Amana High School in 1954.
She was a member of the Amana Church Society. She enjoyed spending time with her children, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, word searches, crochet, embroider, and making other crafts. It was also very important to her to always give back, giving to the church’s pantry. She also crocheted hundreds of scarves for the homeless and made bed mats for the Pine Ridge Reservation.
Memorials may be made to the Amana Church Society, Safe Haven of Iowa County, or Camp Courageous.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the dedicated and loving staff at Lakeview Village Assisted Living, Colonial Manor Nursing Home, and Compass Memorial Healthcare for caring for our beloved Mom and Oma.
