Arlan Henry Buhrmann was born May 24, 1931 on the family farm near Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Henry and Anna Meyer Buhrmann. He attended rural school and the Immanuel Lutheran School. He served in the Army during the Korean War from August 1952 until May 1954. He returned to the family farm where he was a life long farmer. Arlan was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Arlan died Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at the VA Medical Center in Knoxville, Iowa after a long illness of cancer. He lived 75 years, 3 months and 27 days. Arlan is survived by his sister: Marlena Kerr of Cedar Rapids; two nephews: Gary Kerr of Bondurant, and Greg Kerr of Marion; a niece Deanna Evans of Cedar Rapids; and 4 great nieces and nephews: Christopher Dees of Marion, Mandy Evans of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Steven Evans and Cara Evans both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Arndt and Robert Buhrmann. and a sister Marcella. Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, September 24, 2006 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Memorials are for the Immanuel Church.
