SIGOURNEY- Ardith Joy Pence, was born October 23, 1940, in Delta, Iowa, a daughter of Garold and Letha (Roberts) Moore. She graduated from Delta High School in 1959. She was united in marriage to Donnie Lee Pence on March 27, 1959, at the Delta United Methodist Church, in Delta. She lived in the Delta and Sigourney area all of her life. She was a licensed agent for Farm Bureau and State Farm for a number of years. She was a member of the Delta United Methodist Church and a member of the Neighborhood Club. She enjoyed spending time with her kids and grand kids, doing puzzles, tying rugs, camping at the State Fair and playing with her dog Gizzy. Ardith died on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 68 years. She is survived by her husband Donnie of Sigourney; 3 children- Leta Jean & Dale Tedrow of Douds, Betty Waechter of Sigourney and Larry & Lori Pence of Sigourney; 10 grandchildren- Matthew, Brandin, Tylor, Adam, Michael, Morgan, Mark, Bryce, Brooke and Brayden; a sister Carol & Dean Benson of Sigourney; stepsister Dixie Shipley of Delta; a stepbrother Roger & Kim Strong of Delta ; a half brother Greg Moore of Delta; a sister-in-law Helen Marie Kleinschmidt of Sigourney; and her step mother Wilma Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Howard Leroy Moore; and her grandparents- Burley & Ethel Roberts and Roy & Dell Moore. Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at the Delta United Methodist Church in Delta. Pastor Vince Homan will officiate. Burial will be in the Garrett Cemetery, in Delta. Visitation will be on Monday, from 4-7 pm at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney. A general memorial fund has been established.
