North English Dateline Archie Dean Port Jr., age 40, died following a long illness at his home in North English, on Thursday, March 22, 2007. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, March 26, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English with the Rev. Cindy Breed officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2007 from 3 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home. His body will be cremated after the service. Archie is survived by his wife Chris Huber of North English; daughter Makayla Collins of LeMars, IA; son Zachery Port of Merrill, IA; step-sons Zackary & Cody Huber and step-daughter Madysen Huber all of North English; his father Archie Port Sr. (Kay) of Alton, IA; step-father: Jim Burnett of Seney, IA; brother Terry Port of LeMars; sister Kim Synder (Scott) of Alton; two step-brothers Rusty Burnett of LeMars and Troy Lindberg of Arizona; grandmother Viola Rieken of Seney & Aunt Betty Erickson of Seney. He was preceded in death by his mother Kathy Burnett and grandparents Alva & Velma Port and William Rieken & step brother Jimmy Burnett. Archie was born November 18, 1966, in LeMars, Iowa, to Archie Sr. and Kathy (Rieken) Port. He was raised in Seney, Iowa, confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church and attended LeMars High School. He received a heart transplant in 2000. Archie lived in North Liberty a short time before moving to North English in 2001. He enjoyed woodworking, construction, horses, fishing and watching a good old western. He lived 40 years, 4 months and 5 days. A general memorial fund has been established. Visitation will be from 6:30 PM until the service on Tuesday at the Carlsen Funeral Home.
