Anna Mae Miller

March 3, 1927 — November 5, 2014

Anna Mae (Ropp) Miller was born March 3, 1927 in Stuttgart, Arkansas, daughter of Solomon and Vesta (Yoder) Ropp. She was united in Marriage, August 22, 1954, to Paul W Miller at the Fairview Mennonite Church, Kalona, IA. She was baptized in her youth and was currently a member of Sunnyside Church. She was a sincere woman in her Faith in Jesus Christ.
Following their marriage they served in a Mission Church in Mountain View, Arkansas where their first 3 children were born. Anna Mae became interested in teaching hearing impaired children when she found out her oldest daughter was deaf. This took them to Cleveland, Ohio and Pennsylvania. From there they moved to Iowa, where she began a small school for the deaf in Kalona, in 1966.
Anna Mae had a sincere passion for the elderly, and in her 60's she sought to achieve education in nursing and hoped to have a daycare for elderly people. She visited the elderly on a regular basis, and loved to plant many gladiola bulbs, to take flowers to the nursing homes for a sense of good cheer. It truly was her joy and delight. When visiting their daughters in Oregon, she chose to volunteer in Nursing Homes there also, as well as in Florida when they began making their winter home there.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Gwendolyn (Mike) Hurst, of Ephrata, PA; Joyce,(Darrell) Headings, Ainsworth, IA; and Reba (Wayne) Miller, Canyon City, OR; 2 sons, Kevin (Joyce) and Jerry (Holly), of Sarasota, FL; 26 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
