WELLMAN - Amy Leona White was born November 21, 1913 in rural Wellman, Iowa the daughter of Edward and Barbara (Yoder) Martin. She attended Green Center rural school. On February 21, 1939 she was united in marriage to Glen White at the English River Church of the Brethren near South English. She lived in the Wellman community all of her life before moving to the Pleasantview Home in Kalona in October of this year. She was a homemaker and a member of the Wellman Mennonite Church and the WMSC. She enjoyed reading, quilting, and eating chocolate. Amy died on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona at the age of 98 years. Amy is survived by two daughters - Crystal Tschantz (Gary) of Davenport; Cynthia Schlabaugh (Craig) of Wellman; a son Martin White of Cincinnati, OH; and a granddaughter Kelly Tschantz Levy of Oakland, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glen in December 2004; a sister Lula Brenneman; and five brothers - William, Charles, Emerson, Russell and Robert. Amy's family would like thank Lola Marner, Cheryl Link and Hospice of Washington County for providing her with great care so she could stay in her own home for as long as she was able. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established for Washington County Hospice and the Wellman Scofield Public Library.
