Williamsburg- Amanda Lea Hook, was born December 26, 1981 in Maryville, IL the daughter of Thomas & Denise (Huedepohl) Hook. She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. From her arrival into the family, as a first grandchild, she was a center of focus to a doting family. After the loss of her father and later her mother and brother, the family became an even greater support. Her greatest advocates of her freedom were her ever present Grandma & Grandpa Hook. She graduated from West High School in Iowa City, in 2000. She was employed at the Coralville Wal-Mart for 10 years and participated in Special Olympics. She thoroughly enjoyed her friends in the Lunch Bunch, the Iowa City Brain Injury Group, and her house mates and staff at her Systems Unlimited Residence. Amanda passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at her grandparents home in Williamsburg after a 4 year courageous battle with cancer at the age of 32 years. She is survived by her grandparents: Robert & Joan Hook and Neva Norris all of Williamsburg; aunts & uncles: Ardith (Kevin) Stoner of North Liberty, David (Shari) Hook of Williamsburg; step-mother Lori Hook of Iowa City; cousins: Ashley (Cody) Hartman, Matthew Stoner, Adam Hook and the very treasured Benjamin Hartman; and many special friends and family. She was preceded by her parents Thomas & Denise Hook; a brother James Hook; two stillborn sisters: Candyce & Jennifer; and her grandfather Robert Norris. Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 AM on Friday, April 11, 2014, at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. Rev. Carl Cloeter will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg.
