SIGOURNEY-Alta Waneta Utterback, age 87, of Sigourney, died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney. Alta was born August 26, 1917, in Sigourney, to Richard and Louie (Derby) Sellers. She attended school in Sigourney and was a member of the Sigourney Christian Church. On May 14, 1936, she married Walter Utterback. In her younger years, Alta worked at the Town House and Gilbert's Café and cleaned house for several people. Survivors include her daughter: Shirley Grove of Sigourney; three grandchildren: Shirley Ann Kelderman and husband Dan of Oskaloosa, Jim Grove of Des Moines and Lyle Grove of Sigourney; three great grandchildren: Chelsie, Abby and Caleb Kelderman; sister: Willis Hitchens Rowe of Mesa, Arizona; brother: Harold Sellers of Apache Junction, Arizona; two sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters: Cleo and Phyllis, two brothers: Jack and Cleland Sellers and one grandson: Larry Grove. Her body has been cremated and no services have been planned at this time. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Keokuk County. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
