KEOTA-Alma M. (Dutch) Riordan, age 97, of Keota, died Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Maplewood Manor in Keota. Alma was born August 10, 1915, in Wellman, Iowa, to Don and Veronica (Bohr) Cady. The family moved to Keota when Alma was five and she graduated from Keota High School. On October 10, 1933, she married George Riordan at St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota. They farmed down around Clear Creek, then Harper, then in 1942 they purchased a farm five miles northeast of Sigourney. They lived there until 1967 when they sold the farm to Ed and Virginia Weber and purchased Hillcrest Supper Club by What Cheer. They moved back to Keota in the early '70's. Alma worked at Maplewood Manor for 11 years, and also took care of Ila Aller for 14 years. Survivors include four children: Shirley Riordan (John) of Carrollton, Georgia, John Riordan (Lynne) of Keota, George Riordan, Jr. (Paula) of Worcester, Massachusetts, and Tom Riordan (Jean) of Safety Harbor, Florida; 32 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Marti Riordan of Federal Way, Washington; one brother: Bill Cady of Keota and one sister: Donna Washburn of LaVerne, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: George in 1975; son: James; two daughters: Mary and Donna; four grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Eileen and four brothers: Don, Jr., Leslie, Bob and Marion. A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013, at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 p.m until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be a wake service at 5:00 p.m. A general memorial fund has been established.
