Aleita "Leit" DeYarman, 74, formerly of Olds, IA, died Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona, IA. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, September 21st at 10:30 a.m. at the Faith Christian Outreach Church with Pastor Monte Knudsen officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Gifts may be directed to the family for a memorial to be named later. Born July 6, 1939, in Morning Sun, IA, Aleita Maureen was the daughter of Thomas Charles and Vivian Maureen (Barrick) Linder. She graduated from Morning Sun High School in 1957, and then attended Parsons College for two years receiving her teaching certificate. She married Gary Gibbs. The couple later divorced. On August 25, 1974, she married Ronald Kyle DeYarman in Morning Sun at the United Methodist Church. The couple resided in the Olds area until 2010 when they moved to Kalona. For several years Leit taught school in the Sperry and Yarmouth school districts. She later worked as a server at Jack Hamilton's Clubhouse and did housekeeping. Many would remember her as a clerk at Martha Brown's Clothing Store in downtown Mt. Pleasant. Leit enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She would often make homemade treats to share with them. Favorite hobbies included shopping, roller-skating, riding motorcycles and dancing. She was a member of Faith Christian Outreach Church. Survivors include her husband, Ron, of Kalona, IA; five daughters, Cindy Miller of Iowa City, IA, Kathy (Paul) Mulkey of Hobbs, NM, Tammy (Neil) Smith, Lisa (Dave) Oetken and Tina (Timothy) Hill all of Mt. Pleasant, IA; two sons, Randy (Jill) DeYarman of Cedar Rapids, IA and Doug (Tammy) DeYarman of West Des Moines, IA; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gilbert (Shirley) Linder of Stronghurst, IL and Raymond (Judy) Linder of Stanwood, IA; and one sister Marjorie (Leo) Croteau of Anoka, MN. Preceding Leit in death are her parents.
