Aldine "Bill" Gingerich was born December 13, 1915 near Parnell, Iowa the son of Christian and Mary (Zehr) Gingerich. He attended Parnell High School. On June 20, 1937 he was united in marriage to Wilma Bender at the West Union Mennonite Church near Parnell. Bill lived and farmed in the Wellman community all of his life. He was a member of the West Union Mennonite Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years. He enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and traveling. Bill died on Sunday, August 21, 2005 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona following a lengthy illness at the age of 89 years. Bill is survived by 6 children - Lucy Hostetler and husband Sanford of Goshen, Indiana; Linda Miller and husband Dale of Kalona; Leland Gingerich and wife Julie of Wellman; Frances Nafziger and husband Gary of Wellman; Twila Miller and husband Edward of Kolkata, India; Brenda Stauffer and husband Ardell of Akron, Pennsylvania; 22 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; a brother - Jeremiah Gingerich of Mountain Home, Idaho; and a half sister - Ruth Miller of Wellman. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Wilma in January of 1998; 4 grandchildren; a sister - Luella Blosser; and a brother - LeRoy Gingerich
A Memorial Fund has been established for Mennonite Central Committee and Mennonite Mission Network.
