Albert "Al" Hubbell was born May 7, 1944, in Iowa City, Iowa, a son of Leonard and Velma (Campbell) Hubbell. On May 15, 1967, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Carney, in Lancaster, Missouri. He was a truck driver and drag line operator until he became disabled in 1972. He has lived in Parnell since 1974. He mowed the Catholic cemeteries for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and going to casinos. Albert died on Thursday, August 14, 2008, at his home suddenly, at the age of 64 years, 3 months and 7 days. He is survived by his wife Phyllis of Parnell; 2 children: James (Deb) Hubbell of Kalona and Heidi (John) Kirschbaum of Spencer; 2 grandchildren: Owen Kirschbaum and Carly Hubbell; 2 step grandchildren: Bryon Waddell and Amanda Loehr; his mother Velma of Marengo; 3 sisters: Louise Cheney of Coralville, Gloria Hahn of Sigourney and Melinda(Bob) Kochyut of Ladora; and 2 brothers: Terry Hubbell of Iowa and Jeff Hubbell of Ladora. He was preceded in death by his father; a son Chris William Hubbell at birth; his grandparents;2 brothers-in-law: Larry Cheney and Earl Hahn: and his mother and father-in-law Gerald and Lois Carney.
