Alan White, age 75, of Malcom, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at home after a short battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, August 29, 2021 at the Cromwell Church, Cromwell, Iowa.
Alan was born in Creston and graduated from Creston High School. He attended college but decided on a military career which included four years as an Airborne Ranger. He was also an experienced pilot. After the military, Alan owned a chain of men’s clothing stores in Spencer, Emmetsburg and Hamburg, Iowa. He was later employed by Midwest Manufacturing, in Kellogg, for 25 years. Alan also raised, trained and raced thoroughbred horses in Minnesota and Iowa. He was currently employed by Meskwaki Casino as a maintenance engineer for the hotel.
Alan is survived by his wife Linda of 23 years; two daughters, Summer (Mark) Cord, of Sioux City, Danielle Smith (Troy White), of Newton; two adopted children, Michael and Abbey White; three step children, Jon, Joel and Jade Lary, of Omaha, NE; two brothers, Ronald (Diana) White, of Lenox and Galen (Diane) White, of Lenox; a sister Phyllis Green, of Texas; a sister-in-law Sharon Ellershaw, of Fort Worth, TX; a brother-in-law Bill Clem, of Creston; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Darlyne (McIlravy) White, two brothers-in-law, Lanny Green and Lee Ellershaw and two sisters-in-law, Emma Clem and Teresa Willets.
Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, is assisting the family with arrangements.
