MOUNT PLEASANT- Alan Miller, 63, of Salem died unexpectedly Friday, October 29, 2021, at the Henry County Health Center.
Alan was born November 5, 1957, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Keith and LeAnn (Blind) Miller. Alan graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1976 and received an Associate's Degree in Agriculture from Southeastern Community College. He married Polly Peterson in 1982, they later divorced. He lived and farmed in the Salem community all of his life. Alan was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and Houghton Knights of Columbus. He was the Henry County Commissioner on NRCS. He was a great supporter of the Salem School. Alan loved history, visiting museums, watching sports, listening to music, and spending time with his family.
Alan is survived by two brothers, Harlan (Peggy) Miller of Mount Pleasant and Howard Miller (friend Sally Naber) of Mount Pleasant; four nieces, Jennifer Kruse, Becky Miller, Karyn Spinner, Sara Fedler; eight great nieces and nephews, Kade, Emma, Jordan, Cole, Addison, Drew, Olivia, and Dylan; special friend Sally Johnson of Mount Pleasant; special kids Ben, Kate and Amanda; King Pop to Hannah, Jackson, Garrett, Maddie, and Isabelle.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Father Dan Dorau Celebrant. Committal Services will follow in the St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. Vigil Service will be held at 5:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Salem School and Mount Pleasant Music Boosters.
