Aileen Reinier, 75, of Hillsboro, IA passed away peacefully Thursday, December 22, 2011 with her family by her side. According to her wishes, Aileen's body has been cremated. A visitation will begin after 12 noon on Monday, December 26, 2011 at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. that evening. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 27th at 11:30 a.m. at the Hillsboro Baptist Church with Pastor Duane Lacock officiating. Inurnment will be at the Hillsboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. Born June 3, 1936 in Barstow, CA, Aileen was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Adams) Hayes. She graduated from Mission High School in San Francisco, CA in 1954. On December 28, 1960 she married Ernest Reinier in Reno, NV. Aileen worked at the Ordinance Plant in Burlington, Heatilator in Mt. Pleasant, and the San Jose Hospital in California. Aileen also owned and operated Ernie's Tap in Hillsboro for many years. In 1999, after retirement, she returned to Hillsboro where she worked at the library for many years. She helped to spread the news of Hillsboro through the Mt. Pleasant News, The Record Leader, and the Van Buren Register. She also sent out many copies of the Hillsboro News Letters across the United States. She also worked with her long time friend, Jean Wenke, at her Bonaparte Shop. An active member of the Hillsboro community, Aileen belonged to the Christian Church and attended the Baptist Church. She was a very active member of the Relay For Life team, "No One Walks Alone," being the top fund raiser for several years. She will be missed by anyone that had the privilege to have known her. Whether she was cooking or raising money for a charity her presence was always there wherever she was needed. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Ernest; her mother Elizabeth Hayes of San Francisco, CA; four children Linda (George) Kennedy of Farmington, IA, Diana (Craig) Carter of Sonora, CA, Mary (Kevan) Cole of Lexington, KY, and Nick (Terri) Reinier of Modesto, CA; one brother Bob Hayes of Pacifica, CA; two sisters Mary Ellen Wilson of Gardinerville, NV, and Kathleen Lazzarini of Antioch, CA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; extended family and friends across the United States. She is preceded in death by her father; a sister Barbara Stiehr; a brother Joe Hayes; and a nephew Donnie Stiehr.
