Agatha Wehrle

Agatha Wehrle, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Park Place Elder Living. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Herb Shafer, officiating. Interment will be in the Glasgow Cemetery, Lockridge, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Rome Baptist Church and the Lewelling Quaker Museum in Salem, IA. The daughter of Lloyd and Lucille (Danielson) Blucher, Agatha Belle was born July 9, 1922 in rural Jefferson County. She graduated from Lockridge High School in 1941. On March 7, 1942, she married Dale Wehrle in Hannibal, MO. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2011. The couple resided in California for many years where Agatha worked as a secretary in numerous offices, most notably at the Knott's Berry Farm. The couple returned to Iowa in 1991 when they retired. A devoted wife, her time at home and with her husband meant the most to her. Agatha enjoyed her many friends and loved to entertain. She collected dishes, refinished furniture, and enjoyed flowers of all kinds. She was of the Christian faith. Survivors include a sister, Aurelie (Floyd) Burns of Fairfield, IA; three cousins, Loree (Wayne) King of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Gary (Linda)Blucher of Burlington, IA, and Jim Blucher of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Dale, she is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dale Carroll, in infancy; and a sister, Ethelda West.
