Ruth Capps, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Saturday, February 06, 2016, at the Henry County Health Center. Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon, on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. that evening. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at the Oakland Mills Community Church with Pastor Rick Moorman officiating. Inurnment will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Oakland Mills Community Church. On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com Born July 2, 1926 in Trenton, IA, Adella Ruth was the daughter of Alfred Raymond and Mary (Bowman) Gates. "Ruth" received her education at the Trenton country school. On August 13, 1946, she married Edward Capps in Waukegan, IL. He preceded her in death on September 28, 2004. Ruth was a nurse's aide at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. She then became a line worker at Sheaffer Pen and later was employed by Emersen Electric. Ruth's last employer was Motorola from which she retired as a lineworker. In 1980, Ruth and her husband moved to Hemet, CA and later to Columbia, SC, returning back to Mt. Pleasant in 1984. Ruth attended the Oakland Mills Community Church and at one time was the church organist. She was known for her love of baking and cross stitching. She was an active member of the Rhythm Rockers and enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Dennis) Robertson of Manchester, IA and Patricia Capps-Campbell of Mt. Pleasant, IA; three sons, Dave (Gwen) Capps of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Victor Capps of Newton, IA, and Charles (Rena) Capps of Noblesville, IN. Also surviving are four granddaughters, Christine Ingwersen, Tina (Steve) Witthoft, Nichole Capps, and Wendy (Steven) Ringo-Capps and two great-grandchildren, Victoria Witthoft and Gage Ingwersen. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; two brothers, Ralph Gates and Raymond Gates; and two sisters, Dorothy Gates and Hazel Lynchard.
