Addison Jared Powell was born October 23, 1987 the son of Shawn and Tonya (Rediger) Powell. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 2006. He was attending the University of Iowa and was ready to graduate from the College of Engineering. He was a member of the Kalona Christian Fellowship. Addison enjoyed attending Iowa football games, cooking, playing classical guitar, playing tennis, intramural football, and coaching younger children. He was a great role model for his brothers. Addison died on Sunday, September 12, 2010 in Grand Lake, Colorado at the age of 22 years after a courageous fight with cancer. Addison is survived by his parents Shawn and Tonya Powell of Wellman; five brothers and a sister - Breighen, Moriah, Jaemin, Canaan, Isaiahn, Mathyan Powell all of Wellman; a special friend Christa Ravestein of Ankeny; maternal grandparents Larry and Wanda Rediger of Wellman; paternal grandparents Jerry and Jacque Powell of Williamsburg; three great grandmothers - Maxine Conrad of Williamsburg, Rachel Powell of Wellman and Ida Mullet of Kalona. He was preceded in death by great grandparents - Simon and Martha Mullet, Sterling and Zola Rediger, Lewis Powell and Maurice Conrad. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the Parkside Activities Center in Wellman. Pastor Louis Goszleth will officiate. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. A memorial fund has been established for Winding River Ranch.
